Drum roll please....

Ta daaaa! We have a new roof! A colonial red standing seam metal roof to be exact. We're pretty excited. This was one of the (hopefully) only times we will have to hire someone else to do the work. We chose a local roofing company based on recommendations and conversations with the owners. Toma knows his stuff when it comes to just about everything construction and if he doesn't then he does major research until he really understands how something works. I can't recommend this enough when hiring out work, even if you're not going to be doing the work yourself. He knows what to ask and notices right away if something is wrong, not to mention the satisfaction in just knowing how your house is made.

Toma has been working like a man on a mission this past week, trying to replace, prime and paint all of the damaged soffit and fascia boards before the roof went up.
We're not to sure if we like the color we chose. It looks completely different than the swatch, but then again everything will look different once we have all of the stucco off of the exterior and point that lovely red field stone. So for now we'll leave it.

just had to share one more picture and include the crazy old apple tree that unfortunately is beyond rehabilitation
